Montessori nursery & preschool

We believe that all the children are unique and special in their own way. In order to respect you child's development, the Montessori method has been chosen because we believe that it offers amazing benefits in every way. Our goal is to follow your child way of learning and adapt the curriculum to him/her.

Class size is limited to 12 students, to ensure the best learning experience. The nursery class has an full time assistant in addition to the teacher. 

Montessori Approach

All our nursery and pre-school classes follow the Montessori pedagogy. The main Montessori principles are:

  • Freedom in choice of activity,

  • self-discipline,

  • Undisturbed working time,

  • Respect each child rythm,

  • Students learn concepts from working with materials and dicovering them, rather than by receiving instructions from the teacher,

  • Specialised materials developed by Maria Montessori,

  • Freedom of movement inside the classroom

Activities

 

Trillium International School's pre-school classes offer a perfect environment for children to explore a variety of different activities from the 4 Montessori classroom areas:

Practical life, Sensorial, Mathematics and Language, culture.

Throughout the day, the children will explore a wide range of activities from the classroom areas.

They will also take part in group activities:

  • Show & Tell

  • Story Time during circle times.

  • Cooking classes,

  • Gardening/Botany

  • Library.

  • Yoga class

  • Pottery

Children will be introduced to Mathematics by following the Kumon Program. It will be followed until Year 6.

They will enter writing and reading with the Jolly phonics method for the English part and with the Alpha's method for the French part.

 

Our preschool students have French lessons one morning a week.

Daily routine

9.00 - 11.00 : Individual work using the learning material.

11.00 - 11.15 : Playtime (snack)

11.15 - 11.45 : Circle time / story time

11.45 -12.30 : Lunch

12.30 - 1.30 pm : Playtime

1.30 - 3.00 pm : Individual work / nap time

3.00 - 4.00 pm : Crafts / painting
